Esmeralda the black cockatoo
The Red-tailed black cockatoo is an Australian native bird found in most mainland parts of Australia. I was attracted to their luxurious black plumage and almost jewel like markings.
Esmeralda has been painted using a flat black pigment colour evoking a moody dark tone and is accentuated with gold and blue details. She is gracefully perched on a backdrop of eucalyptus leaves and blossoming buds.
